History of Helping
Making a difference in the lives of Haitian children.
Joy and Hope of Haiti began in the late 1980’s when a few friends visited Haiti and were touched by what they witnessed. They brought together like-minded people in the Hamilton area and began making a difference in the lives of Haitian children. Funds were raised to build schools in the Cap Haitien area, in Northern Haiti. In 2013, Joy and Hope became a registered Canadian Charity.

Through the decades, we have developed a relationship with our friends in Haiti. All funds are directly transferred and accounted for.
Through the generosity of businesses and individuals in the Hamilton area, we have been able to administer our programs for over 30 years now.
We have learned many lessons over the years, and have worked hard to generate a monthly budget, which includes the following administration costs.

-
Living wage for teachers, administrators, and support staff. 12 months per year.
-
Ongoing Teacher training. Excellent Christian curriculum
-
Books, school supplies and basic property maintenance.
-
Cost of shipping dried soup mix twice per year. Children receive a hot bowl of soup twice per week.
